I hope the entrance to May has found you well and relatively calmish as we slide into the end-of-the-school-year frenzy. I have a book recommendation to share with you today along with a couple of quick meal ideas, but I need I need to ask you something: can you give me your favorite books that are fun without being too frothy, lighthearted without being fizzy? I’m looking for witty, smart escapism. I love Liane Moriarty and Sally Hepworth for this type of book, but have also really enjoyed Emily Henry and Josie Silver’s books when I need a pick-me-up (travel + funny dialogue = happy). I have not been able to get into any of the novel styles I used to love—if a book is too sad or twisted or dark or melancholy or long my brain shuts off and I end up putting it to the side. Catherine Mack (Catherine MacKenzie’s pseudonym) debut looks like it will fit the bill—any other ideas for me?
